At the center of our mission is a diverse community of people who care about education, connection, and responsible engagement with psychedelics. We are united by a commitment to creating safer and healthier spaces for learning, reflection, and conversation.
We see ourselves as a community catalyst. Our role is to support dialogue, share reliable information, and create opportunities for people to connect in meaningful ways. Anyone who feels called to contribute to this work is welcome here.
If you are interested in helping others learn, supporting events, or strengthening community spaces, we invite you to get involved. Volunteers play an important part in our educational programs, community gatherings, and outreach efforts.
Joining us offers a chance to grow, learn, and contribute to a community that values care, clarity, and connection. Reach out when you are ready, and we will be glad to welcome you into the work we are doing together.
The Bay Area Psychedelic Network began on October 4, 2019, when a small group in San Mateo came together to create a space for learning, conversation, and community. What started as a simple gathering quickly grew into a welcoming community where people shared meals, talked openly, and supported one another through curiosity and connection. These early days shaped the foundation of who we are today.
Our community has always been rooted in care. Over the years we have organized food drives, supported local nonprofits, and created opportunities for people to contribute to the well being of others. We also launched the Artist Initiative, which brought together creators from around the world and gave our community a way to explore the emotional and cultural dimensions of psychedelic experiences through art. Inclusivity has guided every step, creating a space where people can show up as they are and feel supported.
As our community matured, our focus shifted toward deeper education and meaningful connection. Our events grew into thoughtful gatherings that combined conversation, music, creativity, and shared learning. These experiences helped people understand psychedelics in a grounded and responsible way while strengthening the bonds within our community. What has remained constant is our commitment to creating spaces where people can learn, reflect, and connect.
We stand today as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to community education, harm reduction, and public benefit. Although our origins were inspired by early grassroots psychedelic groups, we are not affiliated with the Psychedelic Club or any national psychedelic organization.
Our purpose is to support safer, healthier connections and a thriving community. We focus on the role psychedelics may play in health and wellness, and we work to provide clear, accessible education that helps people make informed and responsible choices. Our history is an ongoing movement shaped by local voices, shared learning, and a commitment to care.
We invite you to be part of this community. Join us at an upcoming event and experience the connection, clarity, and sense of belonging that continue to guide our work.

We believe that strong communities create healthier individuals. Our gatherings offer space for conversation, reflection, and shared understanding. Whether someone is curious, experienced, or simply seeking connection, they are welcome here.
As a nonprofit and public charity, we place community well‑being at the center of everything we do. Our events encourage open dialogue, grounded learning, and supportive relationships that strengthen both individuals and the broader Bay Area community.

Our evolution from the Psychedelic Club of San Mateo (PCSM) to the Bay Area Psychedelic Network (BAPN) marks a significant milestone in our mission to broaden the conversation around psychedelics. This change reflects our expanding reach and the inclusive spirit that drives our community forward.
Why the Change?
Our Commitment Remains Strong: While our name has changed, our dedication to providing education, promoting safe practices, and supporting cognitive liberty remains unwavering. We’re here to serve as a beacon for those seeking knowledge and connection within the psychedelic space.
Join us as the Bay Area Psychedelic Network, and be part of a transformative journey towards greater understanding and acceptance of psychedelics. Together, we can create a future where these powerful substances are recognized for their potential to heal, inspire, and connect us all.
There are many ways to get involved and support our cause. You can make a donation, become a volunteer, or even organize a fundraising event in your community. Whatever you choose, know that your contribution will make a difference in the lives of those in need.
Welcome to the Bay Area Psychedelic Network. We began as the Psychedelic Club of San Mateo and have since grown into an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to public education, harm reduction, and community connection. Although our early inspiration came from the broader wave of grassroots psychedelic groups, we are not affiliated with the Psychedelic Club or any national psychedelic organization.
Our work is grounded in the principle of cognitive liberty and a commitment to clear, accessible education. We host a wide range of in‑person and online gatherings, including community meetups, wellness workshops, harm reduction seminars, and cultural discussions. Each event is designed to support informed, responsible engagement with the risks and benefits of psychedelic substances.
Since our first gathering on October 4, 2019, and our official nonprofit formation on February 28, 2020, we have grown into a community‑driven public charity. Our mission is shaped by open conversation, shared learning, and the belief that education strengthens both individuals and communities.
Our calendar continues to expand with new events across the Bay Area. Visit our News page for updates on upcoming gatherings, volunteer opportunities, and community initiatives. We welcome anyone who feels called to contribute to education, harm reduction, and community building. Every voice matters here.
Mission Statement: We are committed to educating the public on the nuanced risks and benefits of psychedelics and creating spaces that encourage curiosity, understanding, and responsible engagement.
We maintain the integrity of our mission and our tax‑exempt status by focusing on education, harm reduction, and community connection. We do not promote or facilitate illegal substance use or distribution. Our events are designed to be safe, inclusive, and accessible.
We also collaborate with artists and creators to bring psychedelic‑inspired experiences to the community. Whether you work in visual art, music, performance, or multimedia, there is space here to share your work and grow.
Stay connected through our website and our social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitch, Pinterest, and Reddit. We are always looking for new volunteers who want to support this work.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
